ASM - Terms and Conditions

INTRODUCTION
The following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which driving lessons and courses are offered to you by your local ASM Driving school instructor. Please note the contract for service is between yourself and your local ASM instructor.

CODE OF CONDUCT
All ASM instructors are bound by a professional code of conduct. Your ASM instructor will be courteous, polite, tidy and punctual. They will also behave in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Your ASM instructor's car will be well maintained, clean and tidy. All cars used by ASM instructors are fitted with dual-controls as part of their standard equipment. The cars are fully insured for driving tuition. Smoking policy-smoking is strictly prohibited. ASM instructors will not use your lesson time for any other form of business, personal or otherwise.

Your ASM instructor is licensed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) to give driving tuition. Your instructor will also keep you informed of any changes in driving law and current best practice for driving tuition. Instructors are subject to periodic checks by the DSA to maintain quality.

DRIVING LICENCE AND EYESIGHT REQUIREMENTS
The learner must hold a current, valid driving licence (provisional or full), which must be produced on or in advance of their first lesson. The learner must also check that they can read a number plate at a distance of 20.5 metres (i.e. 67 feet - about 5 car lengths) with glasses or contact lenses if normally worn.

LESSON POSTPONEMENT
To enable your ASM Instructor to rebook another pupil you will be required to give two clear working days notice of cancellation of a lesson, otherwise we regret that the lesson will be charged. However, every effort is made to re-sell a late cancelled lesson to another pupil of ASM Driving school.

INTENSIVE COURSES and PASS PLUS
Please note the deposit or any subsequent training fees paid are not refundable in the event that you decide to cancel within 1 week of the start of the training once the booking has been accepted by your local ASM instructor. At this point a binding agreement is made between yourself and the local ASM Driving instructor. This does not in any way affect your statutory rights to be provided with the goods and services you have bought.

PICK-UP & DROP-OFF POINTS
All lessons will start and finish at the same location unless other arrangements are made with your ASM instructor. If you elect to finish at a different location, your ASM instructor may need extra travelling time to get to the next appointment. If this is the case, it is the duty of the learner to inform the ASM instructor in advance of the lesson start time.

TIME KEEPING
In their own interests learners are advised to be punctual for their lesson appointments. All such appointments should be recorded (and checked where possible by their local ASM instructor) in their student appointment card to ensure that mistakes are avoided. The ASM instructor would normally wait for a maximum of 15 minutes before the lesson would be abandoned and the lesson fee forfeited or become due for payment. A reciprocal waiting time may become necessary if the ASM instructor is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this would be made up by the ASM instructor either at the end of the normal lesson time if possible or at a later date. All efforts will be made to inform the pupil of a delayed start time to a lesson.

PAYMENTS
Payment for lessons will be made in cash or by cheque (supported by Guarantee card) and made payable to the instructor at the start of every lesson. Block bookings are to be paid at the start of the first lesson in order to benefit from the discount offered. A 50% deposit will be required at the time of booking for any courses taken (unless booked within 2 weeks of the start date, when full payment will be due) with the balance due at the start of the course.

THE DRIVING TEST

Bookings
Driving tests can be booked by you, or your ASM instructor on your behalf. Driving test bookings always take priority over other lessons. Therefore, your lesson may be postponed to allow for someone else's driving test and vice-versa. Changes to lesson bookings as a result of this will be notified immediately. Test appointments must be notified to your ASM instructor as soon as they are known; otherwise he or she cannot guarantee to provide a vehicle for the test.

Use of the vehicle
Very rarely and in the interest of Road Safety, ASM Driving school reserves the right to withhold the use of the school car for the driving test if, in the opinion of your ASM instructor, you are not able to control the car safely.

Test cancellation
Three clear working days notice of cancellation or postponement (not including Sundays and public holidays) is required by the DSA. Failure to provide the required notice will result in the loss of your test fee. Your ASM instructor cannot be held responsible for any postponement or cancellation of tests by the DSA. However, he or she will do all that is possible to arrange another test as quickly as possible and help you to reclaim expenses from the DSA.

SAFETY
In the interests of comfort and safety learners are advised to wear suitable footwear and clothing which does not restrict movement. Learners must also take note of any medication they are taking that may affect their ability to drive safely and advise their instructor accordingly before taking any lesson booked. If your ASM instructor believes you to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs then the lesson will be abandoned and full payment will be due. This will be non negotiable.

COMPLAINTS
In the event of a complaint all efforts must be made to resolve the problem directly with the ASM instructor. However, please do not let a problem linger. If a satisfactory conclusion cannot be reached, contact the ASM Head Office at:
